Stella sings....
Wednesday, June 17, 2009
It's pretty funny that this has become a Stella Blu blog.. It was really supposed to be a journal of our lives. So let me tell you what has been happening. In April, Doug lost his job at the agency he had been with for seven years. I would say it was a sign of how everyone is having a hard time in this recession our country has been going through. It was a hard couple months but God has always provided for our family and this time was really no exception.
Well, last week Doug was offered a new position at a new agency as National Marketing Director. We are truly thrilled and can't wait to see what the future holds.
As for me (jenae) I am still doing my business and working on staff at the church. This year my plans are to expand my business and really focus on learning more about what it takes to run a small biz!! I have some great ideas that I can't wait to start on!!
As for Stella... She is having fun. Here is a really bad camera phone video of her singing. I sometimes take her out on the porch to sit in our rocking chair late at night. I sing her this old song, "beautiful,beautiful..Jesus is beautiful. And Jesus makes beautiful things of my life. He's patiently loving me causing my eyes to see that Jesus makes beautiful things of my life."
Stella would always get so quiet as I sang to her . Then one day we were outside and she piped up and said "Mama, Beautiful...chair" she pointed to the rocking chair and she wanted me to rock her and sing. So I did and she started to sing with me.. I was so shocked.. 1) i didn't know she could even pronounce beautiful.. let alone sing.. well here is some video we shot of her singing and being herself..
BTW- the hat she HAS to wear was made for her when she was a newborn by my friend Aimee Viall.. I think she would totally laugh if she saw her in it!!

chatty cathy
Friday, June 05, 2009
Stella has been growing so fast!! And so has her vocabulary (she's sooo chatty). Her favorite words are: nope, no thank you, and no way. She also says I love you (which makes up for any naughty behavior). She's counting to 15 and knows all the letters of the alphabet...I think she learned all that stuff because she wants to be in all the adult conversations. She is so funny, every time we spell anything you can see the wheels turning in her head!!
Unfortunately, she refuses to talk around other people until she has known you for at least an hour and has time to size you up.
Stella definitely keeps us on our toes.. in a good way! We are so glad she is in our lives.
Since every entry is better with a picture here is one from our Worship in the Park event our church was involved in!!

Fun at the Weinbrenner House..not really
Sunday, February 08, 2009
We have had one of the craziest weekends we've had in while.. Some news we'll share soon (not pregnant so get that out of your head) and some we'll share now. On both fronts we would covet your prayers for our family.
We heard a huge crash at 6am in the morning and thought it was thunder since we have been having some crazy weather. Well, when we looked out the window later that morning we were surprised to see that a tree had fallen on Doug's car. Not just any tree but a 60ft pine tree. Let's just say it was the topping on a crazy week that both Doug and I had. We are so glad no one was hurt and that it was our car and not a guest or the sitter. God truly blessed us . I included a video of Stella's first reaction to seeing her Daddy's car...she is funny.. It's unbelievable how much she understands and knows already. We are having a blast being her parents.

You have been living under a rock if you don't know who Dora the Explorer is--at least at our house that is. Stella goes crazy insane when she even hears the first note of the theme song. We can't even stroll through Target without her screaming "DORA" when she sees any of her paraphernalia. So last night we bought a Dora toothbrush and Dora panties (because she would not put the package down). This is in addition to the Dora Potty my Mom got her and the Dora backpack she got over Thanksgiving. I'm not sure when all of this happened-it seemed like it happened overnight.
I'll have to post pics and video of Stella dancing to the music..

stella's world
Sunday, October 05, 2008
We have been so busy it is just so wonderful to all be home at the same time. I just thought i'd update you in internet land of the goings on in the Weinbrenner home through pictures of "The Blu" (our little nickname for her among alot of other nicknames).
Stella really does believe she is an adult. I think if you told her she was only 14 months
she would totally gasp in astonishment.
There are days where she takes my cell phone and pretends to be talking on it. She walks around the house just pacing the floor talking to her imaginary business client. She's such a mogul. We are having so much fun with her and are absolutely loving this age.
We will be visiting NYC for Thanksgiving so we are gearing up for that trip! I know it's in November but we are so busy and our October is so full with photo and video shoots, meetings with branding teams for Non-profits and the such -that We realized that our summer flew by and thought October might do the same.
<--- our house =Stella-land! it's her world we just happen to live here

Stella got caught going into my office.. she refuses to keep her shoes or socks on.. I guess with a name like Stella Blu I should have known she'd be a little hippie.

Stella is doing well. She is crawling faster and stood up by herself too. She has two teeth that she shows everybody and a third one coming up.

Stella... what can i say
Saturday, February 09, 2008
Stella is... well Stella.
She has developed this laugh like a 90year old smoker. I'll have to post a video so you can see what I mean. When she laughs we call her Stella Weinbrenner (say it with a thick NY accent). Of course we developed a back story-We say she is an old lady from the Bronx sitting in front of her building smoking and laughing and heckling the people walking by.
Really, she is so much fun. When she wakes up in the morning she is smiling and you can tell she is happy just to be her.
I'm glad she's here.
She refuses to crawl. She won't even try. She'd rather stand and pretend to walk. I asked the doctor if this was okay and he said some kids march to the beat of their own drum. I love that.. She is most definitely an individual. She is a very active baby, keeping us on our toes. She is just to quick. I thought i'd have a while till I had to baby proof --no such luck. She is also very loud. She loves to chat and almost comes undone if I don't put the cell phone to her ear if someone calls. We better put money away for a cell phone plan. It's so funny to watch her because she looks at you as if you can totally understand her.
Doug and I are doing good too. We still love our house --it's been a year since we moved in. Doug is still in school and doing well. It really is keeping him very busy. I've been shooting a lot more and staying very busy at the church. I love the people I get to work with - I feel so blessed to be with such fun and talented folk.
Well that's our update... chat soon

6 weeks
Thursday, September 13, 2007

I am amazed at how fast time flies. I can hardly believe our little girl is getting so big. Stella is doing so well she is smiling more. She smiles when she wakes up & she smiles when we sing to her. She loves "this little piggie went to market" rhyme she smiles at the "this little piggie had roast beef" line. She did start getting baby pimples (millia) last week but she's still as cute as ever. The one thing that is truly funny about Stella is that she has really bad gas. She farts like a man. So if you are ever in close proximity with the little princess just get ready.
I'm (jenae) officially getting back into the groove of things at work. So I have some sweet friends who are watching her. It was definitely hard to leave her ,but she is getting to hang out with some amazing and fun people who already love her. I am truly blessed to have and be a part of such a great community that rises to meet needs.
As always keep us in your prayers as we raise this little person into who God has intended her to be. And pray that we continue to do right by her.

The Egg Is Starting To Crack
- we checked in around 6:00am, got all settled in and hooked up to the millions of machines and probes
- around 9:00am Jenae began receiving the pitocin drip to help induce, in addition to the first epidural shot . . . yep, I said 'the first'. After 10 or so minutes it was apparent to all those within a 10 mile radius that the drugs were not working. So, they propped her up (again) and shot her up (again). Let's just say that second shot really did the trick ! ! !
- it's currently almost 1:00pm and Jenae is chill-laxin, lights are dim, music going . . . the nurse just said she is 8cm dilated and 100% effaced = ETA 5:oopm-ish ! ! !
more later.

*UPDATE - the dog adoption lasted exactly 1 whole hour ! ! !
Instead of taking her home and letting her get acclimated for a few days or weeks especially considering her severe senility), the adopter took her over to a house full of people to show her off . . . well that freaked her out even more than just
being adopted minutes before. Apparently she cowered, growled, and bit at all the grabby-ass people and based on that one immediate episode alone the adopter returned her. So, she is back living with us, guess she's ours for life - like the saying goes "evil don't die".
Our doctor says that I'm 80% effaced and 2 centimeters dilated. When I asked her to estimate how big our girl is going to be and she said "well she's not a small baby" -- then she backtracked and said I'd say she's medium.
There are a couple of things in play and so we decided to induce on Friday if she doesn't come before. I know everyone has their opinions on induction. Doug and I have done research talked to our physician about the pros and cons of it. It's not for everybody and we are good with our decision.
The other thing going on is we are giving away our little dog. Over the past couple of months she has been snapping at people. We were nervous about having her around the baby. She knows she isn't going to be the baby anymore so maybe that's her deal. She is an old dog and quite grumpy so this is for the best. We are giving her to a sweet lady from Doug's office who just is dying to take care of a little dog like ours. It all works out. We are sad to see her go we've had her for almost three years, but we are glad she will be with someone who will devote all the time in the world to her. Enough about that..
So the next time you hear from us we will hopefully have pictures of our little one and good news to share with you.
thanks for your support and prayers. You'll never know how much it means to us to have such wonderful friends and family like you.

Nine Months and counting
Friday, July 06, 2007

We went to the Doctor yesterday and I am considered "term". That means she can come anytime she wants.. so the ball is in her court. Doug and I were just saying how much we can't wait till she is actually in our arms. It has been fun to dream.
This week we have a few friends and family coming to visit us. Doug's sister is coming to see us with her boys Ryan and Kyle. Monday or Tuesday my friend Aubra who is also pregnant is coming up from Springfield.Mo. And then my cousin Annah is coming to visit from Tampa. So it will be a rather fun and eventful week.

Pet Peeves
Throughout this pregnancy I have learned that my little pet peeves have grown into big pet peeves.. And because I can I think I'll just share a few of them with you.
2. Being pregnant doesn't equal public property. As a person who's never had the desire to touch other pregnant women's bellies, I find this practice extremely rude. I think that if you are not helping to pay for college or willing to spend the sleepless nights walking the floors or breast feeding you do not get to touch the belly. I have been known to grab people's hands to stop them from touching me.. Men and woman alike. People think I'm odd. If I wasn't pregnant would it be okay to do that? No you wouldn't even think of it. I've also had people who just stare-- and of course that's not weird and creepy at all.
3. Because you have kids and have been pregnant before does not give you a Ph.D in rearing my child. I am always baffled by the folks who give unsolicited advice and their horror stories.
I like being blissfully ignorant when it come to labor and the such. I don't mind advice , but I like to choose who I get it from -- if I allow everyone who has a kid to speak into our lives then i'd be a fool. Best example of unsolicited advice, "oh the first 3 weeks after she's born are pure hell & then maybe it gets better." Just an example of how I needed to be ignorant on that fact.
OKAY- thanks for indulging my rant.. oh I have a lot more but i'll spare ya.

We are 34 weeks today!! The Dr. said this is the time that if I were to start labor they wouldn't stop it!! That was a surreal moment! We have two last finishing touches to put on the nursery and we'll show you. It is turning out to be fun and cute and not typical.
At this point, I think I am ready to be done with everything. I am so excited to meet her I can hardly stand it. She's getting bigger and I never knew how much 5lbs really weighed.
On another note, we are getting some pictures from our wonderful friend Jessica Roark from Epaga fotos She is amazing and so much fun! That will be in the first week of July.
I still have one more wedding to shoot for the summer season and i'll resume in the fall . It's going to be quite eventful rest of the year.
I'll be posting more pictures soon!

Wednesday, May 16, 2007
So last week I had another Dr.'s visit. It was the one where they test for gestational diabetes. They also did just check up of the regular things too(blood pressure, baby heartbeat,weight-which by the way i've only gained 15lbs and i'm 7 months and change.)
I have a couple of girlfriends who were concerned about their test and even had to go back and a 3hr battery of blood tests. So I must say that I did get a little nervous.
But not to worry - I just got the results and passed with flying colors (92/11-i don't know what that means but I think it's good). Everybody is healthy and my Doctor continues to comment on how wonderful and uneventful my pregnancy is. I like it like that. So now we are seeing the Doc every 2 weeks instead of every 4-6weeks. That only means we are getting closer.
We (other staff & staff wives who are also pregnant & due all around the same time) are having a baby shower this weekend with our church staff family. They are going to pray over us and just show us how much they love us. I am excited to be with everyone.

Quote of the week
Sunday, May 13, 2007

If pregnancy were a book they would cut the last two chapters.
~Nora Ephron, Heartburn, 1983
How true is that statement!! We are due in July and I am tired of all this. I did a wedding on Saturday and I have a month more of weddings. It is getting harder to keep going. I can hardly wait till our little girl is here. The baby is growing and moving and kicking even more.
We are starting to get to work on the nursery. We are trying to do something that is not the normal pink frou-frou room. And of course we'll have pictures when we are done.
Continue to pray for us. Last Sunday my Grandmother passed away. She reared 13 + children. She was an amazing woman and she single handedly made sure the family was always at peace. She was a minister and always helping someone else. My family went to Miami for the funeral.
I wasn't able to go which I am so sad about. So pray for our family for comfort and peace.

We had a doctor's appt. on Thursday and everything is great. So very uneventful just like I like it.
Our little girl's kicks are getting harder and more intense. They are keeping me up at night , but I love it.
Doug and I are now starting to get serious about her room. As you may have thought we are so not into the traditional girly frou-frou. So it is hard to find something that is different and creative and not what everybody else has. It is fun designing a one of a kind room.
My friends are starting to plan baby showers for us. I am very excited because it means that we are so much closer to the day we get to meet our baby.

Our baby girl (or little Ms.Peanut as Grandma Sharon calls her)
is still doing fine our next appointment is April 12.
She is constantly moving. Her favorite things are using my bladder as a trampoline and doing somersaults. I'm not quite sure what I am going to do when she gets bigger. In fact she is moving (understatement) as I write this .
Other than that life is good!! We are trying to find small moments for us (Doug and I) to hang out --we know we'll treasure these times once our little one is born.
Doug is almost done with this semester, but this is when things start to get busy for him.
I have already started our wedding season with Imij Photography. I did take a lesser load this year but it is still going to be busy ,but good.

MOVED IN Finally
Wednesday, January 31, 2007
ALL moved in ... We don't have all of our internet/TV/ Phone stuff up and running yet but we will soon..
But we love the house and the neighborhood.. We are all adjusting to not having to listen to anyone yell in the halls or anybody smoking and it coming throught the vents...
It is a good feeling.
On the baby front, we are doing good. I am 15 weeks now and in the 2nd trimester. I'm not feeling as sick or tired as I was. I heard the baby's heartbeat again and everything is healthy. We'll find out what we are having in March and we'll let you know. However we are not telling names --everyone will have to wait till the baby is born.
So that's it. We'll have pictures to show you soon.

New Year
Tuesday, January 02, 2007
We hope you all have a very great New Year!
We are certainly on our way to having a great one. There is not much going on here except trying to figure out what goes and what stays through our move.
Doug is starting back to school for another semester. He's studying Public Administration for Non Profits at UMKC (at least I think that is the major title I always forget ). He will be taking off this summer to get ready for the baby (plus he needs the break).
I will be getting ready for another year full of fun stuff at the church (www.heartlandchurch.org). I work in the program and production arena (media division) and we have so many cool things planned. As a photographer(www.imijfoto.com) -I also have a full year of weddings and other portraits -some I will have to give to my associates since I probably will be too huge to run around with a bride. It will all work out the way it is supposed to.
If you feel like drop us a line we'd love to hear from you.

We went to the doctor today. We heard the baby's heartbeat- 165 beats per minute. Very Healthy. Our Doctor is so wonderful. Everything is great and everybody is doing good.

All new stuff
Well needless to say our life is about to change dramatically.. New house, new baby ,new car.. you'd think we just hit the lottery.. but we haven't.
I think this blog will just be quick updates for our family and friends who can't be with us everyday to experience everything. We will do our best to keep it up to date.
